Apis – Statue

Apis 1

Apis, in the form of this statue, presided over my Thanksgiving feast yesterday. The Egyptian Apis is a god of  material abundance and prosperity, among other things, so I thought he would be an appropriate deity to share a feast with.

Statues of Apis are hard to find. I came across this small reproduction a few weeks ago. Not exactly perfect, but it’s pretty good. I would prefer a golden bull statue, or black, with just the solar disk and without the human figure and the block of hieroglyphs. Alas, Apis is not much favored among the companies that make reproduction statues. Still, this is a nice figure.

Hail Apis, God of Abundance!
